Great Taste Awards 2023
Drumroll please! The results are in. We’re absolutely delighted to share with you that Higgidy has won 4 awards at this year’s Great Taste Awards.
And as if finding out that we’d won 4 awards wasn’t enough, we were over the moon to find out that one of our products had won the highest accolade of 3 stars. Any guesses which recipe it might have been?
Held by The Guild of Fine Food, The Great Taste Awards are the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme, and each year a panel of over 500 carefully selected chefs, food writers, buyers and retailers review, taste and award their favourites. It is the ultimate seal of approval and you might have spotted a sticker or two on some of your favourite food and drink items, so if you have, here is a breakdown of what each award means.
- 1 star – Simply Delicious
- 2 stars – Outstanding
- 3 stars – Exquisite
So without further ado, here is how we did this year:
Porcini & Chestnut Mushroom Pie – 3 Stars
You guessed it! Our Porcini & Chestnut Mushroom Pie was awarded 3 stars this year. According to the Guild of Fine Foods, only 2% of products each year are awarded 3 stars which means that this is HUGE achievement for us.
But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what one of the judges had to say:
“This is showstopper of a mushroom pie. It is beautifully crafted with a crisp crust which holds the generous filling well and with a lovely crumble topping. The filling was well balanced and full of mushroom flavour, with big chunks of mushrooms evenly distributed throughout. This would be hard to beat if made at home…”

Roasted Tomato & Spinach Vegan Quiche – 1 Star
Next up was our Roasted Tomato & Spinach Vegan Quiche. This recipe of ours has been a firm favourite of our ever-growing vegan range for a couple of years and we’re so happy it now has the 1 star seal of approval.
It was certainly popular with the judges with it’s “flavourful, creamy filling” with the roasted tomatoes adding “an extra flavour dimension”.

Cauliflower Cheese & Broccoli Pie – 1 Star
We know what you’re thinking. Cauliflower cheese in a pie? This one is all about the filling, and it’s no surprise that our fabulous Food Team have carefully crafted an award-winning recipe that ticks all of the boxes.
Our Cauliflower Cheese & Broccoli Pie is a magnificent medley of cauliflower and broccoli florets in a Cheddar, Red Leicester and Emmental cheese with a hint of Dijon mustard, topped with a garlic and thyme crumb. Simply delicious.
This year’s judges called this a “deeply tasty pie” and if that doesn’t make you want to give it a try, we don’t know what will.

Spinach, Feta & Red Pepper Little Lattices – 1 Star
Last but by no means least is our Spinach, Feta & Red Pepper Little Lattices. This one was particularly exciting to us as our little lattices only launched earlier this year as part of our snacking & sharing range.
You may know by now that there’s nothing we love more than glorious veg and we love packing as much as we possibly can into our recipes. Inside these little lattices, you won’t just find a generously baked filling of spinach, Greek feta and red pepper but you’ll also find butternut squash in the pastry which was definitely a hit with the judges with them commenting on the “evenly baked, golden pastry”.
