Higgidy’s 2021 Awards
We love baking great tasting, top notch pies, quiches, rolls and more and nothing quite beats being recognised for doing just that. So, this year we’re over the moon to have received several awards recognising the innovative flavour combinations, unique craft and quality of our recipes. Here’s a rundown of our top achievements.
Peta Vegan Food Awards 2021, Best Vegan Pie
- Mini No-Pork Pies
Nothing’s better than being heralded as the ‘best’ in your category, so we’re chuffed that our Mini No-Pork Pies have been awarded Best Vegan Pie by Peta’s Vegan Food Awards. These awards, which are now in their ninth year, highlight some of the most delicious and exciting new vegan foods around. It’s brilliant to see these bite sized vegan goodies have been given the recognition we feel they deserve.
Great Taste Awards 2021 – 1 Star
- Spinach & Pine Nut Pie
- Cauliflower Cheese & Broccoli Pie
- Cheddar & Spinach Mini Muffins
You might already be familiar with The Great Taste Awards. That’s because they are the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards around. They’ve been judging since 1994, with more than 150,000 products being put through their paces in this robust, blind tasted, judging process.
Not only have we won an award from The Great Taste Awards, but we’ve received 3 this year – a Higgidy hat-trick! Our Spinach & Pine Nut Pie, Cauliflower Cheese & Broccoli Pie and our Cheddar & Spinach Mini Muffins each received a 1 star award. This is awarded to foods that go through a rigorous judging system and have proven to deliver ‘fantastic flavour’ (we couldn’t agree more!).
Our Spinach & Pine Nut Pie and our Cauliflower Cheese & Broccoli Pie have always been firm favourites but it’s also great to see one of our newer recipes, Cheddar & Spinach Mini Muffins, be so highly thought of. Bring on next year!
British Pie Awards 2021, Silver
- Mini Pork Pies
It seems our mini pork and no-pork pies are in demand as not only have our No-Pork Pies been named ‘Best Vegan Pie’, but our Mini Pork Pies have also gained the votes of judges, this time from The British Pie Awards where we received a Silver Award. These awards are a national celebration of British Pies in all their varieties and have been running for 12 years, judged in Melton Mowbray to recognise the craft of bakers, butchers and other producers. It’s an absolute joy for us to receive this award for such a traditional recipe.
The Veggie Awards 2021 – Highly Commended
- Spinach & Pine Nut Pie
Our Spinach & Pine Nut Pie makes a second appearance, also having been Highly Commended by the Veggie Awards 2021. These awards are the go-to for those looking for quality products paired with having a positive impact. Over 70% of our recipes are vegetarian and we’re proud to have become a B Corp business which acts as a force for good – this means a lot to us at Higgidy.
World Plant-Based Taste Awards 2021 – Finalist
- Spinach & Roasted Tomato Vegan Quiche
To top things off, our Spinach & Roasted Tomato Vegan Quiche made it to the all the way to the finals of the World Plant-Based Taste Awards 2021 in the Best Pie/Pastry category. These awards are judged by a panel of leading figureheads in the plant-based industry based on the recipes taste, texture, appearance and more, so we’re thrilled to be finalists.
We’re absolutely delighted with the titles we’ve received this year, and what great additions for the Higgidy trophy cabinet! We’re proud to be a part of so many wonderful awarding events, and we can’t wait to see what next year will bring.
